The Land of Jordans
I live a short walk away from Jordan’s, the breakfast-cereal company that produces muesli and oat crunch for aspirational breakfast. They are currently in a process of building a new visitor centre on their land, which might mean that all this glorious factory stuff I painted will go away.
I’m not so sure that’s a good idea. If all the factories close down and are replaced by visitor centres, where are people going to work? Only so many people can make coffee for tourists.
This is quite far out in the countryside from where I live, but there’s a path along the river that leads right to it. I had two interactions with people while I was there: after I’d been there at least half an hour, a pair of young ‘lads’ with their shirts off walked past me, and said “it’s a shithole, innit”. Yup, such a shithole that I just spent 30 minutes staring at it! Then, as I was finishing up, a security guard walked past on the other bank of the river and gave me some stinkeye – presumably some cunning criminal gang is casing oat processing factories under cover of watercolour painting.

Haha, completely agree about the visitor centres. Uergh. Keep up the great pictures Pete. Nice washes on the tower :)
I like your comments as much as I like the painting – great stuff.
Yup. Artists are dangerous and subversive people
