Drupal: Not your friend

Another day, and another Drupal issue. It’s the Open-Source Software that can’t. That really, really can’t.

This time, I’m trying to install it on a MAMP server on my laptop. Something screwy happens, so I head over to the documentation site to find that the main .org for it has gone down. It’s like a macrogasm of why open source is never going to make any friends.

Hi Pete, This is funny. I was just singing the praises of Drupal here http://blog.furtherfield.org/?q=node/148#comment-92

I guess I might not have been quite so upbeat if someone had asked me about the opensource thang when I was banging my head against Drupal installation a year or so ago.

Did you find a way around the problems? : )Ruth

Thanks Ruth… I shall head over there to vent my ire.

I know how you feel. We love what Drupal offers in regard to CSS etc, but when it goes wrong it really goes wrong – we were hacked a couple of weeks ago & just about fixing it all…
